About Us

North Hertfordshire Homes (NHH) is the largest Registered Social Landlords in Hertfordshire, providing approximately 8,700 homes for rent including over 800 units of sheltered accommodation and around 200 temporary and supported housing places. We were originally set up in April 2003 to take over the housing stock of North Hertfordshire District Council (NHDC), since then we have established ourselves as a high performing and cost efficient association with an expanding development programme stretching beyond north Hertfordshire.

Our headquarters and repairs depot are located in Letchworth Garden City, but we also have a network of local neighbourhood offices in Hitchin, Royston Baldock and Letchworth. The majority of our homes are located within these four towns, with other properties scattered throughout the villages of North Hertfordshire and beyond.

Five years on, and with the promises made met in full, we have completed a massive £131 million stock improvement programme and will meet the governments Decent Homes Standard by the 2010 deadline.

We are set up as an Industrial and Provident Society with charitable rules and all our profits are ploughed back into the business to finance improvements to stock and the development of new homes.

We continue to receive excellent assessments from the Housing Corporation and in a recent Audit Commission inspection were awarded a two star with promising prospects for improvement.

We have a strong neighbourhood focus and a firm commitment to resident involvement.
