About Our Development Programme

Where We Are Building

We are working in partnership with local councils to provide affordable homes across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. The councils we are working with include:
North Hertfordshire District Council          Stevenage Borough Council
St Albans City & District Council          Three Rivers District Council
Central Bedfordshire District Council          Bedford Borough Council
Luton Borough Counc

What Type of Homes We Build

We want the new homes we build to help create balanced, sustainable communities. We do this by building a range of house types and by offering a range of tenures that are suitable for a different households. We build homes for rent, homes for shared ownership (part-rent, part-buy) and homes for sale. We build houses, flats, some bungalows, housing for older people, and temporary accommodation for homeless households.
The type and tenure of homes we provide on any individual site is determined by local housing need – which we determine by discussing requirements with the local council.

Design and Standards

The new homes that we build are of a very high quality.  This helps us to ensure that:
  • They last well, providing many years service for residents
  • They are pleasant places to live
  • They reflect local design and characteristics
  • We maintain high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Future maintenance and repair costs are manageable

To help us to do this we:
  • Build to the Homes and Community Agency’s Design and Quality Standards. Further details of these standards can be found at www.homesandcommunities.co.uk
  • Carry out rigorous quality control
  • Involve residents as much as possible in designing new homes
  • Carry out customer satisfaction surveys among residents of new homes
