Rent to HomeBuy is a new Government initiative that is often referred to as "try before you buy".
 
North Hertfordshire Homes (NHH) would grant an Assured Shorthold tenancy for a maximum period of 5 years, on a lower than average market rent, after one year and 1 day tenancy, if you wish to do so you may apply to purchase a share of the property, on a New Build Home buy shared ownership lease.
 
You are able to choose to purchase any share between 25-40%, or if you prefer you may also continue to rent the property for the full period of 5 years at the same lower than local market rent.
 
The scheme is designed to help potential purchasers save for a deposit in order to allow them if they wish to do so to progress to shared ownership.

    • Maximum Housing income must not exceed £60,000.00
    • Applicants should be either:
      • Current social housing tenants (either Council or Housing Association).

      • Registered on the local council waiting list.

      • Government defined key workers

      • Other first time buyers unable to purchase without assistance

      • Previous Home Owners going through a relationship breakdown where the property is being sold or transferred to release equity
