26 October 2010
A partnership of five housing associations has scooped £6.7m from the Homes and Communities Agency through the National Affordable Housing Programme (NAHP) which will deliver over 100 new homes.
The Arc Partnership is led by Aldwyck Housing Association and includes North Hertfordshire Homes, Luminus Group, Luton Community Housing and Welwyn Garden City Housing Association.
Over half of the award went to North Hertfordshire Homes to build in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. Kevin Thompson, Chief Executive said, “As government funding cuts are made, this significant allocation from the Homes and Communities Agency reflects their confidence in our track record for building high-quality affordable homes that meet local housing needs.”
Aldwyck Chief Executive Harj Singh said, “Working collectively, the Arc partners were able to put together an attractive bid with a range of properties, including strategic development sites and supported housing. We were delighted to have been successful in the face of stiff competition and look forward to working closely with the HCA to deliver these much needed homes.”
John O’Mahony, Head of Strategy and Performance for the HCA in the East of England, said: “I am really pleased that we were able to support Arc and its partners, they are one of the main players in the east of England. In total we have allocated £57m over the next three years, whichenables new homes to help address the housing needs of the whole east of England area. Arc put together a total funding package that delivered excellent value for money and enabled some strategic sites in the Hertfordshire area which is great news for the Local Authority and the local communities who will benefit.”
