Celebratingthe move into a brand new development at Oak View on the corner of Stockingston Road and Hitchin Road is fashion model Zaira Khudoeva who recently collected her keys from landlord North Hertfordshire Homes. Oak View was built on behalf of Luton Borough Council and has 14, one and two bedroom flats for couples, families and individuals. Zaira has been in temporary accommodation for three years and is really pleased with her new home. She said “It’s so good that everything is brand new. The carpets and windows are a good quality. Everyone moving in is pleased when you speak to them.”
Cllr Tom Shaw, Portfolio Holder for housing in Luton, said:
"We have been working with North Hertfordshire Homes on this exciting new development as part of a much wider programme of increasing the supply of much needed housing and this shows that good progress is being made. This new development at Oak View has enabled local families in real need to come off the housing waiting list and move into decent homes they can afford to live in.”
Each flat has a solar panel that will provide some of the hot water throughout the year to help keep fuel costs low for residents.
Cllr Shaw said "The solar panels are a great addition to these already stylish homes with the very latest in sustainable technology being used to benefit families who otherwise might not have been able to afford it to generate their own electricity, conserve energy and most importantly, save money.”
Kevin Thompson chief executive at North Hertfordshire Homes said “We are proud of our new homes for Luton residents. We’re sure everyone will be happy at Oak View and we look forward to building more homes for Luton.”
Before collecting their keys, residents got a chance to say hello to each other at a celebratory curry provided by restaurant Spice of Caddington.
