  • Give Respect, Get Respect -
    12 March 2008
Local Landlord North Hertfordshire Homes has signed up to the Governments Respect Agenda to show that it means business in tackling anti-social behaviour.

It marked the occasion with an event for north Hertfordshire residents at Westmill Community Centre in Hitchin to celebrate the good work being done in local communities. People of all ages came along to give their support and to enjoy the local Bollywood dancers, face painting and the climbing wall erected outside the centre.

Serious messages were also part of the occasion with displays and advice on hand. The highlight was a series of short interactive dramas from a group of actors, including NHH staff, which helped demonstrate the consequences of actions on other people.

David Smith, NHH’s Neighbourhood Services Manager, commented “The Governments Respect Action Plan is about working closely with local agencies and residents to help them challenge the unacceptable behaviour of the minority. It’s about being tolerant, accepting and being considerate to other people, and in particular about recognising the consequences of our behaviour for others. We have been very successful in helping to achieve this. Signing up to the Respect agenda shows NHH’s commitment to making our neighbourhoods pleasant placers to live”.
