- Campfield Way and Highover Road Redevelopment Proposals -
03 June 2008

After over two years of consultation with residents, local housing association North Hertfordshire Homes has submitted a planning application for the redevelopment of the 60 corrugated aluminium bungalows at Campfield Way and Highover Road.
The application seeks to replace the existing bungalows with 99 new homes – including two and three bedroom bungalows for existing residents. All the new homes have been designed to reflect the design principles of the garden city. North Hertfordshire Homes hopes to replace the existing bungalows because they are reaching the end of their life and cannot be repaired or maintained cost-effectively into the future.
NHH Chief Executive, Kevin Thompson, said “We have spent two years consulting with local residents about what sort of homes they need and are really pleased that they have been able to have a real say in how the proposed new homes will look. The bungalows we hope to provide are bigger and better than the current bungalows, and will be much cheaper to run for tenants. We are also really pleased that, if we get planning permission, we will be able to provide additional affordable housing – which is much needed by the local community”.
