09 June 2008

As part of North Hertfordshire Homes’ ongoing support of Baldock Youth FC, the local housing association was delighted to present the Under 16’s Crusaders with the first ever award for Good Sportsmanship.
Managed by Rob Mayhew the team play in the Royston Crow Football league. They were awarded the trophy in recognition of continually playing their football in a sportsmanlike manner. ‘In every game played the teams mark each other for their attitude, temperament and general behaviour, these boys have always scored highly in all aspects’ says Garry Blyth, club chairman. ‘They are not the best in their league but they do enjoy playing together’
Last year NHH presented Knights Templar School with a cheque for £20,000 towards the development of an all weather pitch at the school. One of the main reasons for doing so was the fact that it would be the training ground for Baldock Youth football Club. With around 450 members aged between 7 and 18 years old from across the community NHH were please to be able to support the venture. ‘The club provides local young people with a great opportunity to get involved in a healthy and fun activity. It promotes good behaviour and respect for others and is why we were so delighted to sponsor the award for good sportsmanship’ says Kevin Thompson, Chief Executive of North Hertfordshire Homes.
