How To Become A Tenant in North Hertfordshire
The Common Housing Register
One of the aims of North Hertfordshire Homes (NHH) is to provide affordable housing to those that need it. We do this by working in partnership with North Hertfordshire District Council (NHDC) and other Registered Social Landlords (RSLs), providing affordable and suitable accommodation to meet the immediate needs and in some cases future needs of local people.
By working closely with Howard Cottage Housing Association and the local council (NHDC), we formed North Hertfordshire Housing Partnership (NHHP) and successfully introduced a common housing register in 2005. This means that applicants have access to housing across the district by the completion of one application form that will provide them with access to the housing options operated by NHHP.
North Hertfordshire Homes(NHH) will continue to provide 75% of vacant properties for allocation using NHDC’s Gateway Scheme. These applicants will also need to satisfy some of the criteria of the North Hertfordshire Homes scheme. The remaining 25% of vacancies will be let directly using this independent letting scheme.
