Paying Your Rent

How do I pay my rent?

There are a number of ways for you to pay your rent which are:-

  • Online by visiting  www.allpayments.net
  • By telephone to Allpay 0844 557 8321, quoting your debit or credit card details. You will also need your housing payment swipe card to hand
  • At any post office or shop displaying the 'PayPoint' signs using your NHH housing payment swipe card
  • By Direct Debit contacting the Rents Team on 01462 704102 to set up Direct Debit payments.
  • By cheque made payable to NHH with your payment reference number and address on the back.

How will I know when to pay my rent?

Your rent is normally due every Monday. If you need any more information about this please contact your local Neighbourhood Office.

How will I be able to check my rent account?

We will send you your rent account statement four times in a year. You can also phone or visit your Neighbourhood Officer at any time to get an up-to-date statement.

How do I request a new housing Payment Swipe Card?

If your housing payment swipe card is lost, stolen or faulty, just contact the Rents Team on 01462 704102 or email them on rents@nhh.org.uk . A replacement card will be sent to you within 48 hours, free of charge.

What does my rent pay for?

As NHH is a registered charity we aim to charge affordable rents so the rent you pay goes towards:

  • Carrying out repairs and improvements to your home
  • Managing and maintaining your home
  • The cost of building or developing homes

What are service charges?

Service charges are not the same as rent. They cover the cost of things like lighting and cleaning of communal areas, door entry phones and keeping lifts in working order. Please refer to your Tenancy Agreement to check if you have to pay a service charge.

What happens if I don't pay my rent?

If you are having difficulties paying your rent, please get in touch with your Neighbourhood Officer straight away.

We have produced a Managing Your Money leaflet which gives you practical advice on how to manage debt effectively.

We will advise you on what help is available and try to come to an arrangement which will help you to clear the arrears. As long as you keep to the arrangement no further action will be taken.

Where can I get free independent legal and money advice?

NHH has an arrangement with the CAB (Citizen Advice Bureau) to provide independent money advice to our tenants, please ask your Neighbourhood Officer for a referral.

Housing Benefit

You may be able to get Housing Benefit towards paying your rent. For more information, please contact your local council.
