About North Hertfordshire Homes
NHH is the largest provider of high quality Sheltered Housing schemes in North Hertfordshire. NHH’s Sheltered Housing schemes are well established with Scheme Managers working within every scheme. There is also an office based team of area managers and administration support.
Sheltered Housing is specifically for people who are 55 years or older who have a support need. Sheltered Housing promotes independent living for older people providing the added sense of security and peace of mind that extra support is on hand if needed. We currently have 19 schemes in North Hertfordshire.
What Types Of Properties Are Available?
Our Sheltered Housing schemes come in all sorts of shapes and sizes they consist of a variety of flats and bungalows and are grouped together in schemes. Each property is self-contained with its own kitchen and bathroom, lounge and bedroom areas and alarm system.
The Scheme Manager is responsible for the day-to-day running of the scheme providing support and emergency assistance for tenants and will liaise with other agencies/services on the tenant's behalf. The Scheme Manager will also assist tenants with the promotion of social activities.
Each property is fitted with a pull-cord alarm system which can be activated by the tenant to alert the Scheme Manager or the call centre. We also operate an emergency support service during the evenings. Tenants can call for emergency help via the intercom system 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Tenants have the choice of having a regular call by the Scheme Manager, either via the intercom system or by calling the property to make sure that they are well and giving advise and assistance as necessary.
Scheme Managers will assist customers in accessing care and welfare services, but cannot provide personal care services themselves. Many tenants do receive personal care from care teams provided through Adult Care Services, other professionals or from family and friends.
General Services And Facilities
Most schemes have communal rooms such as lounge/dining room, kitchen, laundry, disabled bathroom, hairdressing and guest room facilities and communal areas have fitted emergency alarm systems. Most schemes have lifts or stair lifts and many schemes have landscaped gardens.
