Temporary Accommodation

North Hertfordshire Homes Temporary Accommodation Service

North Hertfordshire Homes aims to provide 90 units of one and two bed self-contained accommodation.

Referral of those families or single people in priority need is made by the North Hertfordshire District Councils Homelessness Team.

Those referred are supported in their accommodation by a Housing Support Officer whose role is to provide support to residents to enable them to make a success of their stay in temporary accommodation and achieve a positive move on to permanent general needs stock.

Where needed the service is able to provide further support to up to 30 residents in their transition to general needs accommodation who may need extra help or assistance.

Temporary accommodation is available in the main towns of the district and enables families to settle and make positive contacts with friends and schools etc prior to a permanent offer of accommodation in the same area.

The Tenancy Support Officer forms part of this team and their role is to provide support to tenants of general needs accommodation who require additional support in maintaining their tenancy referral here is via the Neighbourhood Officers.

Together it is hoped that the Housing Support Officers and Tenancy Support Officer can help break the cycle of homelessness that affects a small minority of tenants.

How do I apply?

Referrals must come from North Hertfordshire District Council.  Please contact them on 01462 474000 and they will be able to assist you.
