NHH have always considered the development of its staff a high priority, and ensure that individual objectives are set in annual appraisals. These can then be supported by individual training plans as well as the Corporate Training Strategy.

Investors in People

We were delighted to be awarded the Investors in People accreditation within months of ‘going live’ and again passed with flying colours when we were re-accessed in 2005. The assessors were impressed with the policies and procedures we had in place to support and develop staff, and in how clearly everyone understood their role within the organisation.

Professional Qualifications

As well as in-house training and development opportunities, North Hertfordshire Homes also offer support through external courses. We are keen to help staff update and advance their professional and job related skills in order to achieve professionally recognised qualifications.

Apprenticeships

By investing in the youth of today and providing them with a formal framework for development, we aim is to build, train and retain a new generation of craft-workers.

Within our Repairs Service, young people have the opportunity to work with our skilled craft teams as apprentices. We are currently supporting apprentices in carpentry, plumbing, plastering and vehicle maintenance.

Work Experience

Working closely with the Hertfordshire Careers Service, NHH offer work experience placements to students from local schools, in all types of jobs.  From this students are able to learn about a particular area of work which may interest them and also gain experience in how businesses work and operate.
